Mac Maid

Know what is taking up space. Choose what goes. A local Mac utility for storage discovery and cleanup you can review before it runs.

A full disk leaves a deceptively difficult question: which files can go? Mac Maid makes the candidates visible before cleanup, with a clear distinction between disposable caches and personal files.

Review before removing

Quick Clean targets older cache and log entries. Deeper cleanup exposes broader cache categories for review. Storage discovery helps locate large personal files and managed stores, with personal files moved to Trash and managed data opened in the application responsible for it. The scope is explicit. The most aggressive cleanup starts with nothing selected, so a large download or rebuild is a choice the user can understand in advance.

Built around a narrow permission

A cleanup plan applies to the items the user reviewed. The application checks file identity again before removal and rejects changed paths or symbolic links. It runs locally without an account, cloud service, or administrator-level deletion path. Mac Maid demonstrates the same principle that matters in business automation: give a tool a well-defined task, make its intended actions visible, and constrain what it can touch.
